After 10 years of preparations, Dhammadharini Support Foundation purchased monastery property in 2016 for our Bhikkhuni Sangha to put down deep roots in this land.

❧ a space of refuge, sanctuary & practice for those inspired to fully live the monastic path,

❧ where aspirants can explore monastic life, learn, train & ordain,❧ where lay friends of the Sangha can visit or stay for periods of immersion, sanctuary & service,

❧ accessible for Dhamma teaching & alms round, located at the western foot of Sonoma Mountain midway between the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento & Dhammadharini's forest hermitage on the Sonoma Coast. 

Dhammadharini continues to maintain the Aranya Bodhi Awakening Forest Hermitagea forest meditation hermitage for Theravada bhikkhunis (fully ordained female monastics) like-minded women and friends.

Bodhi House Closing - New Address & Phone



Dear Friends,

The Bodhi House, former in-town lodging for our Bhikkhuni Sangha for three years, is now closed.  Dhammadharini's (Dhammadharini Support Foundation's) office at the Bodhi House closed as of Friday, July 20th, 2012. Out of respect for the privacy of it's lay family residents, please do not visit the Bodhi House -- no monastics are in residence there now.

Our Women's Monastic Community is now located at our new Dhammadharini Monastery in the Sonoma Mountain area of Penngrove (above) together with our Aranya Bodhi Awakening Forest Hermitage (more info is available at our new website dhammadharini.net). Monastic teachers also come down to teach at the Wat Buddhanusorn in Fremont, as well as other venues around the Bay Area. To invite a teacher, email dhammadharini.monastery[at]gmail[dot]com. "Misfortune Transformed" Kalyanamitta Sit and Talk with Ayya Tathaaloka Friday July 13

Dear Dhamma friends,
Please mark your calendars for Friday, July 13, when Ayya Tathaaloka will present a Dhamma talk to our Friday night Kalyanamitta group. 
The topic will be "Misfortune Transformed" and the meditation and talk will take place from 7:30-9:00 pm.

Ayya T returns to Bodhi house & Useful things list


Dear Friends,
Please join us in welcoming our venerable Ayya Tathaaloka back to Fremont. Ayya Tathaaloka will be coming down from our Aranya Bodhi Forest Hermitage with Sayalay Santacari for a half-month stay at the Bodhi House from June 28th thru to 20th July.

During her stay, Ayya Tathaaloka plans to visit places around the area recommended for our new monastery/vihara. Stay tuned for further news on this.

Aranya Bodhi Hermitage Environmental Policy

The monastics' ethic is to gratefully accept whatever is offered, other than what is unusable or harmful. Out of consideration for the welbeing and welfare of our human society and planetary environment, at the hermitage it is essential that you offer environmentally-, eco-friendly products, particulary biodegradable eco-friendly cleaning supplies. Please also consider unbleached, recycled toilet paper and paper towels, no plastic water bottles, products with less plastic packaging, as well as vegetarian and organically-grown food products...



There is no trash service at the hermitage.


Please be aware that all garbage and recycling that comes in will also need to be carried out.

Occupancy of Bodhi House

Dear Friends of The Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha,

Please know that it is expected that all residents will be away from Bodhi house at least until the 3rd week of March, possibly mid-April.

We are delighted to welcome our very own native Californian bhikkhuni, Venerable Suvijjana, back to the Bodhi House in this coming New Year. Ven Suvijjana has been retreating at our Aranya Bodhi Hermitage for the past 6 months.

Suvijjana Bhikkhuni plans to participate in Friday evening Kalyanamitta meditation group gatherings, offer sutta study group time, the Bodhi House during this upcoming month of January 2012.
